Exciting Time

Things are moving right along.  I had my first "Author" interview today.  Donated one of my books to the public library and will soon be setting up a book-signing with them.  Feel like I need to pinch myself, this can't be really happening!  This is Great!

Calbert!?

Both of my two oldest boys think they are Calbert.  I decided they could be anyone they wanted to be in the story, because that is the point of a story anyway.  A good story gets the reader involved.  However, my second-grade son greeted me in the car with, "Why did you write that part, it made me cry."  I asked him what part of the book he was talking about.  He was talking about the "Trouble on the Bus" chapter, where Ernie is picking on Calbert about being adopted.  As he continued to read he found himself enjoying the book even more.  Happy reading to my little guy!

Discount available for those of you reading my blog.  When you purchase Calbert: The Third-Grade Cowboy by clicking on this link, add the following code for $2.50 off the retail price of the book.  LEUUW93J

Perfect gift for those second and third-graders on your list!  Calbert and Ernie have to put away their feelings about each other and work together in order to survive a deadly situation.  Will they manage?

I'm Back

Been a long haul, the past few days, for this indie writer.  I have been working for several days to upload corrections.  No luck until today.  I had to make adjustments to the bottom margin, I hope that helps.  For some reason what showed on my computer wasn't what would show up on the review.  Can't wait to see if this version turns out the way it is intended to look.  Nervous Nelly here for a few days.

Bullying

What is a young boy to do when he is being bullied at school and is afraid to tell anyone?  Adoption is a tough step for a child anyway, but when he starts to be bullied because of it the damage is deep.

Get Ready!!!

Calbert: The Third-Grade Cowboy...Facing the Bully, will, hopefully, be ready to purchase by Monday!  That is if I don't find more typo's.  Wonder how many proof-readers and editors it takes to get it right, but would be a lot worse without all the proofing!! The book already came to me for last proof and I found several mistakes (I hope I got them all, this time).  I had to resubmit the interior and will hopefully have that back by tomorrow.  This is SO MUCH FUN!  I can't wait to start the next book!

Big News on Calbert!!

Had a wonderful experience with my critique.  She was full of wonderful information and suggestions for me as a newbie and I am very grateful for her assistance.   Her suggestions were right on the mark!  I since have made a few changes and Calbert: The Third-Grade Cowboy (her suggestion to make him older) is in the process of being printed as I write this post.  It will be available within the next week here!  And will hit Amazon soon after!  Sure hope I proof read everything well!!!

Filled with Excitement and Fear

I speak tonight with a professional editor who is critiquing Calbert: The Second-Grade Cowboy. I can hardly wait to hear what she has to say, but I am also worried about what she might have to say. =)  Wish me luck!

Lisa Head Tackles the Subject of School Bullying in her New Book

The story of Calbert, an average school boy and how he deals with Ernie, the certified school bully

Calbert: The Second-Grade Cowboy written by Lisa Head tells the story of an average school boy named Calbert who is fond of playing a cowboy with his buddy Roland during the weekends but is afraid to go to school during weekdays because he always must find a way to face down Ernie, the certified school bully. Ernie makes life unbearable for Calbert in many ways, but he especially enjoys picking on him for being an adopted child. He always makes fun of Calbert for being adopted and says that neither Calbert’s birth mom nor his adoptive mom wanted him and his brothers.
